Orbit - While moving around the sun, each planet
follows a fixed path. This path is called orbit.

• Mercury is the closest planet to the Sun. It
  travels in an orbit shaped like a flattened
  ellipse. As a result the planet is sometimes as
  close as 29 million miles (46 million kilometers)
  to the Sun, but then it also gets away as far
  away as 43 million miles (70 million kilometers).
• If there were a contest for the most elliptical
  orbit in the solar system, Mercury would come in
  second, after Pluto.
