What is Al-Jalil?
  • Al-Jalil is a project and a journey towards
building a youth and community center in the
    northern part of Rashedieh.
  • Our values are based on
  • Solidarity
  • Hope
  • Cooperation and
  • Hard work.
  • Al-Jalil is based on the will of individuals
working as a team, refusing to give up, no matter
    the obstacles.
  • Our objectives are
  • To motivate
  • To empower
  • To engage
  • To inspire

We see OUR world, and we see possibilities.
6
Why are we striving to build al-Jalil?
  • Our children and youth are the future.
  • Looking to the future, promoting hope and
    motivation, preventing crime and drugs.
  • Reduce the school drop outs by promoting the
    value of education and self-development.
  • Build a sense of responsibility and interaction
    in the community.

7
How we work
  • Establishing a Lebanese-run organization to
increase and ensure rights and opportunities for
    a sustainable development.
  • Pioneer-work to engage and team-up with other
organizations, making it easier for other
initiatives to work inside the camp.
  • Invite external initiatives to work from
    al-Jalil.
  • Give office-hours and use of facilities.
  • Reinforce the positive dialogue we have
    established with UNRWA.
  • We work hard to make al-Jalil a centre with a
    sturdy foundation based on
  • Independency
  • Reliability
  • Stability

11
My share in the dream of Al-Jalil started when I
was living and working inside the camp. Living in
Rashedieh gave me a new perspective of life. All
what we have as human beings is each other and
the capacity to live under any circumstances.
Where there is a will, there is a way. But if you
dont have the belief in life and the belief in
the promises of the future, you dont have
anything! For me Al-Jalil is about willpower,
the will to create, the will to develop, the will
to work together as a team for a positive
change. To invest in people is to invest in
life, the most precious gift of all. We are all
under the same sky, but we dont all have the
same horizon.   Inga, project coordinator
Al-Jalil.
If we want to see a change, we must see it from
within. Al-Jalil means to me to invest in our
youth and community, and it will bring forward a
positive development. I am proud to take part and
to be an initiative promoting protection of our
children and youth. We are bringing back the
hope for the future. Najat, social worker and
project coordinator Al-Jalil.
12
I want Al-Jalil to be a place I know that my
children will be safe. I wish that Al-Jalil can
be a place where I can take a break from all my
daily routines, a place to socialize and a place
to be me. And how nice wouldnt it be for us to
have a place to do sports. Soha, woman, wife
and mother of Hassan, Amnie, Bushra and Sarah.
On this earth what deserve life, protection,
support and empowerment our youth, women,
children and elderly are in need of all kinds of
help and aid. We as human being and not only as
refugees deserve to be treated as any other
person in the world having our human
rights   Mahmoud father of Lana, husband and
resident of Rashedieh camp.
13
For me Al-Jalil means that we will have a place
to go. A safe place in our area where we can
develop our skills and a spend our free time.
We want to invest our time in a place where we
can work together for our society. Being a youth
in the camp I want to be a healthy role model
working to decrease social problems such as
drugs, smoking and violence. I am ready to
coach the teams of Al-Jalil, just give me the
opportunity. Mohammad, youth and student living
in Rashedieh.
For me Al-Jalil means to give the youth
possibilities. Possibilities to be young, to
develop themselves as individuals belonging to a
society, to believe in themselves and give them
the capacity to prosper. Al-Jalil is also about
catching the fish ourselves, we ourselves are
creating something good in our community.   Husse
in, father, husband, social worker and project
coordinator Al-Jalil.
14
As a volunteer in the camp, working amongst the
people in the camp, I see the need for a place
where both young and old can meet and socialize,
in a different place than in the street or at
home. It amazes me to see the initiative and
the willpower working towards realizing this wish
for a community development. For me Al-Jalil
is showing the importance of free leisure
activities in a safe environment, something we
too often take for granted in Norway. The need
for Al-Jalil represents important values and of
human life that can not be taken for granted.
Erik, spending his summer as a volunteer in
Rashedieh.
We are all under the same sky, but we dont all
have the same horizon. Step by step we are doing
something about it. - Inga, project
coordinator Al-Jalil
