them tick.

As a leader it is good to know your employees
and learn a few things
about them.
12
Single Mother
  • You might have a single mother on the team who
badly needs the job because of her child.
  • Are there ways that you can support this parent
with flexible scheduling, or child care resources
that will build her loyalty and commitment to the
    company?

Bored Employee
  • There could be an employee who has been with the
company for several years, who would deliberately
not do much since he or she is already bored with
    the routine at work.
  • How can you change the work routine to motivate
    this staff member?
  • Are there additional tasks that you can assign to
    them?

Communicate expectations clearly and
comprehensively.
15
Bridge gap between employee needs and employer
expectations
  • As a leader, it is one of your responsibilities
to assign work to your members. Talk with each
    person about their individual responsibilities.
Connect their work to the overall vision of the
company and current strategies. Each employee
needs know that they are an important part of the
    company.
  • This gives them a sense of pride with the work
that they do, and commitment to the overall
    company vision.

Be approachable, while being the leader
17
Be approachable
  • Employees need to know that managers and leaders
are approachable. It is common for employees of a
lower rank to be afraid or apprehensive about
approaching or talking directly to their
superiors. This has to do with the leaders
style. Being approachable helps you to do your
job more effectively because employees are more
    directly communicating with you.

18
4
Share your visions and strategies so that team
members see how they fit into the organization.
19
Share the big picture
  • Teams are built so that bigger goals can be
accomplished. Keep in mind that every person on
your team should be aware your specific goals as
a team so that everyone is working to achieve the
    company strategic plan.

  • The entire organization benefits from teamwork
and effective leadership. Leaders that are
disconnected from their teams, unapproachable and
dictatorial see poorer results in their company
strategies. Teams that have open and clear
communication, a focus on top goals and an
accountability of leaders produce top results for
their organizations. Leaders can make the
    difference.
