- As coordinating and monitoring authority to
ensure the creation and maintenance of a safe
province that will provide to all its residents
an integrated and coordinated approach towards
disaster management, the focus is on - Vulnerability reduction in disaster prone areas,
communities and households with the emphasis on
disaster prevention and mitigation (risk
reduction). - Efficient and effective disaster management
preparedness, response and recovery structures,
systems and mechanisms. - Note Commitment of municipalities as the
implementing agents in terms of the Act for
disaster management.

Marketing - WHAT? A capacity building initiative to enhance
the risk reduction and coping skills of the
residents in ten most vulnerable areas in the
Province - HOW? Training and education interventions,
tailored to specific hazards and risks faced by
targeted communities - GOAL? Communities capacitated to develop their
own disaster risk reduction plan, including
preparedness and response plans.
