Lets review
  • You now know
  • How to define plagiarism
  • The different types of plagiarism
  • The consequences of getting caught
  • What SafeAssign is and how it works

22
  • But how do you avoid plagiarism?

23
  • By citing your sources!

24
Citing your sources
  • Citing a source means that you give credit to the
author(s) of the thoughts or ideas you use in
    your research paper.
  • This is sometimes also referred to as
  • Referencing
  • Documenting

25
Citing your sources
  • To cite your sources properly, you must follow a
set of rules called a citation style.

26
Citing your sources
  • There are many different citation styles.

Your instructor will tell you which one to use.
27
Citing your sources
  • When you write your paper, you must cite every
source you use in two places.

1. In the main part of your paper. (This is
called an in-text citation.)
2. In a list at the end of your paper. (This is
called a Works Cited list.)
