Why Cloth Diapers?

• When we welcome our baby into this world, there's
  a promise that every parent makes to the newborn-
  to provide the very best to the child. We, as
  parents, want the safest products to touch our
  babies' delicate skin.
• Our grandparents never knew of disposable
  diapers. In many households, nappies were made of
  the softest cottons. These nappies were untouched
  by chemicals and were hand-washed.

• But over the years, with time scarcity ruling our
  lives, disposable diapers became indispensable.
  Easily available at the local stores, disposed of
  when done. Not many took into account the many
  chemicals that are used to fill those gel-filled
  diapers.

• With growing awareness of the 'ill-effects of
  chemicals' on the baby's skin, environmental
  consciousness, the cost involved etc., we are
  returning to our roots. The main reason for
  opting for disposable diapers is the absorbency
  factor and cloth diaper are super absorbent. A
  baby is at its healthiest when its is clean and
  dry right?

Cloth Diapers VS Disposable Diapes

• One of the misconceptions associated with cloth
  diapers is that they are difficult to maintain.
  Gone are the days when plain cotton nappies had
  to be secured with nappy pins. The new age cloth
  diaper fabrics are super absorbent and are as
  easy to wash as your regular laundry.
• With babies who are not potty-trained, they have
  their diaper on all day long. Most disposable
  diapers have a substance called 'dioxin', which
  is classified as a probable human carcinogen.
  Imagine the amount of chemical exposure their
  delicate skin has to endure, sometimes resulting
  in nasty allergies.

• An average child uses 2-3 thousand diapers till
  he/she is fully toilet-trained. That's a
  staggering amount of plastic, chemicals, pulp,
  gases that end up in our landfills. These diapers
  can take up to 500 years to fully decompose. Are
  we willing to put our planet at such risk?
  Certainly not.
• The reusability of cloth diapers brings down the
  cost significantly. The average cost of a branded
  diaper in India is anywhere between Rs 8-10 per
  piece.
• That amount becomes huge when a year's supply is
  considered. On the other hand, for cloth diapers,
  it is a one-time investment. The cost is mainly
  the laundry cost.
