Title: ASTM G29 – Determination of Algal Resistance of Plastic Films
1ASTM G29 Determination of Algal Resistance of
Plastic Films
2The effectiveness of antimicrobially treated
surfaces against the growth of algae is evaluated
using the ASTM G29 test method. Algae are common
in and around water bodies because they thrive in
moist or damp conditions.
Plastic films line the sides of man-made water
retaining structures like swimming pools,
irrigation ditches, water storage tanks, and
artificial ponds.
Algae multiply over time, forming enormous
microfilms that can penetrate the structure and
leave unsightly deposits on the film.
