What is ESOL?
  • ESOL stands for English for Speakers of Other
    Languages.
  • Students can come and study ESOL in any one of
over 25 centres we have in Cornwall.
  • There are a number of exams from Entry 1 through
to Level 2 that a student can take to show their
    competency in English.
  • Entry 3 level of English is required for students
who want to become British citizens. Plus,
students must complete a Citizenship course or
    exam.
  • Students who pass the Level 2 exam will be able
to communicate freely and effectively in English.
  • This year, a range of new ESOL for Work
qualifications are being developed and offered in
    our centres.

Our ESOL provision across Cornwall
  • Over 1350 migrant workers have gained English
Language qualifications with us in the last year.
  • Learners achieve recognised qualifications which
both improve the students employment prospects
    and their general skills.
  • We also work with employers to offer customised
courses to migrant worker staff in their
    workplaces.
  • Improving English language competence will help
employers meet Health and Safety requirements.
  • We offer and can develop tailor-made English
language courses to suit employers and workers
    language needs.
