Did you know that babies wolfs are called pups?
  • While the pups are young, the rest of the pack
brings food for the mother. After the babies are
done drinking milk from the mother, the mother
wolf goes out hunting .When the mother comes
back from hunting, she and other wolves from the
pack will have to throw up the food to feed the
    babies (regurgitation).
  • The Gray Wolf pup is born blind and deaf.

Where Does the Gray Wolf Live?
  • Is anybody home? This animal needs a large area
of forest to hunt. Wow, Do they walk far! A
pack of gray wolves will wonder as far as 100
square miles. That is about all the way to Cedar
    Point in Ohio!

There are about 2,500 Gray Wolves in the lower 48
states.

LOOK AT THAT GRAY OLD MAN!!!
  • What is big, scary and has gray fur? Gray
Wolves are the biggest member of the wild
dog family. There is only one type of wolf
in Michigan. New groups (or packs) are made
when a wolf finds a girlfriend.
  • Their feet are as big as your moms hand.

The wolves howl to bring other wolves together,
to announce a kill and for the fun of talking.
6
What's big, mean and eats meat?
  • The wolfs diet has a lot of deer, beavers,
rodents and small mammals, but also could have
    woodchuck, muskrat, coyote, raccoon, insects,
nuts, berries and grasses. Gray wolves will
sometimes eat garbage. A Gray wolf will eat up to
20 pounds, that's as much as a whole Thanksgiving
    turkey.
  • A grey wolf is a carnivore. This means they eat
    meat.
