Jefferson College
  • 1995 - Surveyed faculty of Career Technical
    Programs regarding use of WorkKeys as an exit
    exam. Faculty supported implementation of
    WorkKeys (Applied Math, Locating Information, and
    Reading for Information) as an exit exam standard
    for all Associate of Applied Science Degree and
    Certificate graduates for both Jefferson and East
    Central Colleges.
  • 1996 - Each career technical program established
    WorkKeys outcome standards based on input from
    faculty, administration, students, and program
    specific advisory boards

  • 1996 - Curriculum for Career Technical Programs
    aligned with WorkKeys standards.
  • 1997 - WorkKeys graduating student institutional
    outcomes assessment data gathered, reported, and
    distributed to career and technical program
    faculty
  • 1998 - Job Profiling began in region

  • 2002 - Jefferson College became an ACT Center
  • 2003 - Jefferson College implements Computer
    Based Testing
  • 2004 Partnership between regions community
    colleges and Missouri Career Centers resulted in
    development of Career Assessment/Education
    Coordinator position
  • 2005 Jefferson College participates in MoCRC
    state implementation committee
  • 2004-2007 - Coordinator has completed over 400
    WorkKeys assessments with CAP/WIA customers

  • Promote the Missouri Career Source (Great Hires)
    website (increased skilled registrants) and
    services available at Missouri Career Centers
  • Promote the Missouri Career Readiness Certificate
    in partnership with Division of Workforce
    Development

    Centers and college campuses (including satellite
    sites)
  • Utilize both computer based testing and
    paper/pencil
  • CBT-scores are emailed immediately to employer
  • Remediation provided using WIN (Worldwide
    Interactive Network)

New Initiatives
  • Both community colleges are working with the
    Missouri Career Centers to increase the number of
    Great Hires (Missouri Career Source) registrants
    through embedding registration as part of career
    education capstone and freshman orientation
    courses.
  • College graduates are eligible for the MoCRC and
    increases the skilled talent base for Missouri
    Career Source
  • Discussions are underway with local school
    districts to encourage WorkKeys testing
  • All AEL instructors at both community colleges
    are being trained to use WIN remediation tools
  • Employer breakfasts are being scheduled to
    promote WorkKeys and job profiling
