• Learning is not a one-way street you have to
  look both ways!
• We will do our absolute best to teach you, but
  you have to be prepared to learn.
• Learning is a verb an action word! It takes
  effort.

Homework

• Homework is an integral part of a course that is
  centered around reading and writing.
• There are many opportunities for you to get help
  with homework
• My help session is on Tuesdays.
• The Library is open Tuesday, Wednesday, and
  Thursday afternoon.
• Extra support is also offered on Saturdays, from
• 900 -1200 am.
• Students who struggle to complete assignments may
  be required to attend help sessions.

Challenge Opportunities

• Every quarter, each student will be expected to
  complete a challenge project based on the unit of
  study. You will be given a list of suggested
  projects to choose from, or you may propose an
  idea of your own.
• Challenge projects are meant to enrich and extend
  your learning using your special talents or
  interests.

Honors Eighth Grade English

• Students who intend to be candidates for the
  accelerated English class in eighth grade will be
  expected to demonstrate proficiency on additional
  challenge versions of selected assignments
  (tests, quizzes and projects, etc.) throughout
  the seventh grade course. Students who choose
  not to complete these challenge assignments will
  not be eligible for recommendation to the
  accelerated English class in eighth grade.

• One 1 ½ three-ring binder
• Writing instruments pencils, pens for final
  drafts, colored pen for revisions
• Agenda
• SSR Book (you will need this everyday, in every
  class!)
• One flash drive
• Come to class prepared everyday! Being organized
  is a key to success!

Summer Reading

• Review Becoming Naomi Leon and your novel of
  choice
• Summer Reading Tests will be on Tuesday,
  September 2nd
• Becoming Naomi Leon If you have your own copy
  of the novel, please bring it to class beginning
  on Wednesday, September 3rd. We will be
  dicussing this shared text the first two weeks of
  class.
