1Bread Making
2Ingredients
- 225g / 8oz strong white, brown or wholemeal flour
- 1 level teaspoon salt
- 25g/½oz marg
- 25g/½oz fresh yeast
- ¼pint / 125ml luke warm water
- Pinch of vitamin C powder
3Quick Method
- Mix flour salt, rub in fat
- Mix the water, vit C powder and yeast
- Mix the flour yeast liquid, knead well
- Shape into rolls
- Cover leave to rise
- Bake in hot oven
4Method
- Light oven Gas 8 / 220C
- Put flour in a bowl. Stir in salt and rub in marg.
5Prepare Measuring jug Measure ¼ pint of luke
warm water Check temperature. It should be
neither hot or cold. Add yeast dissolve.

6Pour into flour gradually mix with a plastic
spoon
The dough must be soft, if dry add a further 2
3 tablespoons of tepid water.
7Turn out onto floured surface knead for 5 mins
until smooth elastic
8Cut into 8 pieces. Shape each into a bread bun.
Cover tray with Clingfilm. Put into a warm place
to rise. It should be twice the size.
9Bake for 8-10 mins. To check if they are cooked,
tap them underneath they should sound hollow
and crisp.
