Causes for Child Labour
  • Brutality and harassment by parents or
    stepparents in urban slum areas . Controllable by
    penalties to such parents and awareness on
    children rights by Competent Authorities.
  • Rural poverty --gt low nutrition levels--gt reduced
    productivity of persons --gt lack of employment or
    partial employment , illiteracy --gt low priority
    to Education --gt family turns to children for
    living. Strengthening Education system and
    Nutrition status to assist retaining children in
    schools.

Tackling Child Labour
  • Area wise Task force to provide counseling and to
    take custody of working children producing them
    to the Child Welfare Committees in the District
  • Providing voluntary/ (Probation) supervisory
    officers for their future education and
    vocational training when handing over to parents.
    Local NGO should be alerted on the data of such
    children who need support
  • A Help Desk must be installed with NGO support
    for every Child Welfare Committee during its
    functioning.

Proactive steps
  • School going children over 14 years - part time
    vocations which are not hazardous.
  • Special classes for slow learners
  • Alternative schooling for children -Open schools,
    and home schooling
  • To make more persons literate and employable
    rather than just school completed.
  • Vocational training in schools in Rural areas.
