1. Purpose of the Research
  • To develop the framework to analyze the digital
    consumption gap of the youth, centering around
    the discussion on its framework and concept.
  • To analyze the actual status of digital
    consumption gap the youth is faced with, and then
    to suggest the countermeasures in strategic and
    social terms.

  • Review and discussion of the concepts related to
    the digital consumption and focus on the topic of
    Digital Consumption Gap.
  • Analysis of the actual status of our nations
    overall digital life and the national situation
    of the digital consumption gap.

    characteristics of digital consumption gap.

  • Social Importance of Digital Consumption Gap
  • - The daily use of information causes
    individual-centered consumption, reinforcement of
    consumer sovereignty, expansion of consumption
    market and space, and creation of new consumption
    goods.
  • - Access to a variety of types of digital
    devices among social constituents creates the gap
    among the volumes of consumption and services
    granted through such devices.

3-1. Major Results of the Research
  • Analysis of actual status of the gap among the
    volume of digital consumption made by youth.
  • - 3,200 students from 121 schools throughout the
    nation were investigated.
  • - The consumption gap for wired digital devices
    There was no large gap for access, but some gap
    existed in new digital devices (PMP, etc), fees,
    and others.
  • - The consumption gap for wireless digital
    devices In case of mobile phones, some gap
    existed according to the sexes, regions, and
    amount of pocket money in terms of access gap and
    consumption expense gap.
  • - In case of comparison between top 10 and
    lowest 10 levels for youth digital consumption,
    there existed a demographic gap by regions,
    sexes, and amount of pocket money.
