Music, Relaxation and Biosignal Correlates

Biosignal Acquisition Past research has undergone
many refinements through methodology. This
project provides important indicators about the
role of meditation in helping to improve one's
mental state.
Main Objective This study investigates the
relationship between concentration and
relaxation. Specifically, looking into meditation
to induce a more relaxed mind, the
Electroencephalogram (EEG) spectrum measures the
alpha brainwaves and determines the concentration
level. The acquired biosignal are then analysed
to establish the optimum state of relaxation in
an individual.
Data Analysis The collected alpha wave data is
measured and analysed with the aid of a Matlab
program. The analysis shows that an increase in
the alpha wave increases the concentration and
relaxation level.
Brain Waves
GUI The Graphical User Interface software is used
to aid for understanding on the Alpha wave.
Coherent when the hemispheres or the regions of
the brain are producing a
wave synchronously. Feedback immediate auditory
feedback.
