- Store all index files in the same folder

- Changes you make in the index will not be
reflected on the actual PageMaker pages - Create your index several times throughout the
school year - Track which students are being pictured /
mentioned and how many times

5Make Copies of PageMaker Files
- Locate and open the directory of your proofed
pages - Highlight the PageMaker files
- Do not include picture folders
- Edit ? Copy
- Locate and open the Indexed Pages folder
- 04YB ? Index Pages
- Edit ? Paste
- Changes made to the indexed PageMaker pages will
not be made on proofs

- Fixing Mistakes
- In Edit Story mode, delete the symbol placed
in front of the name - Retype name if needed
- Just changing the name does not change index
entry Reason for indexing on proofs - Highlight name and re-index

- Close Edit Story mode by closing the window
- Be careful not to close PageMaker or page
- Click on new text box and repeat until all text
boxes are indexed
26Tips
- Index advertisements (Names in artwork)
- Create new text box and create a list of
advertisements on that page - Index names appropriately
- REMEMBER Changes made to the indexed PageMaker
pages will not be seen anywhere, so you can put
the text box anywhere on the page

- Click the Designer Series Tool

- Choose column structure you want for your index
pages - Enter starting page number
- Set folio information

- Click Remove

- Click Insert
- Make sure pages are in numerical order
- Dont add index page unless you will have other
items on that page that will be indexed

- Next to Auto renumbering click None
- Click OK to create the book list
- This will return you to the blank Index PageMaker
file

- Select Remove unreferenced topics
- If you have previously created an index, select
Replace existing index - Click Format

- This will create a large initial letter before
each section - Choose Nested or Run-In
- Nested New line for each name
- Run-In Names run together
