Program Goal
  • Promote partnerships between Oakland
    University and the business community that
    enhances learning opportunities for students
    while providing benefits to corporate sponsors.

The basic theme of the program is to bring
industry, students and faculty together to learn,
share knowledge and feel like they were part of a

What is ATiB?
  • Unique corporate sponsored undergraduate business
    program its a minor that goes along with any
    SBA major
  • junior and senior years
  • Combines a rigorous education with hands-on
    training in the application of information
    technology in business
  • take one additional ATB course per semester
  • work on corporate sponsored projects during
    semesters 2,3,4
  • More than a co-op program or an internship. It
    exposes student teams to multiple companies and
    real world business problems.
  • First of its kind in Michigan and we have been in
    existence for five years at OU.

Program Sponsorship covers
Firm pays for the student separately
Summer continuation
One student is kept on the project from semester
to semester to support continuity, if needed and
to provide transition. A mix of MIS and non-MIS
students are used to support inter-disciplinary
flavor. Wednesday evening workshops and fall
conference are used to enhance the students
breadth of knowledge and practice their listening
skills.

  • Well I definately feel as though ATiB has helped
    me in my current position so far.  We are
    constantly looking at business processes in order
    to understand the detail that surrounds
    everything.  The process analysis that we do in
    ATiB really has helped me.  Also the interaction
    with businesses I had helps as well-some of the
    sponsors are PwC clients.  I worked most of busy
    season on TriMas which is a company that spun off
    of Metaldyne last summer.  I feel like I have a

    companies both in terms of their computer

Project Scope
  • The project scope spans all the way from
    general business/information technology research
    and analysis/feasibility studies to system
    design, implementation and enhancements.
  • Projects cover a broad array of business
    problems (accounting, finance, marketing, human
    resources, MIS, POM, etc.) and their resolution
    using various IT such as Internet and Intranet,
    Database, ERP, GUI, groupware, electronic
    commerce, and other types of special software.

Who can apply?
  • SBA students (all majors).
  • Students with junior standing by the start of the
    program
  • Anyone with a willingness to commit to a two year
    program
  • Students with a minimum 3.0 GPA (at least 3.0 in
    MIS200 or CSE125)
  • Be prepared to spend at least 15 hours a week in
    intense technology training/practice
