• Highly addictive
• Injected, snorted, smoked
• White (purest) to dark powder
• Black tar
• All types of consumption lead to addiction

Heroin Effects short term

• Rush or surge of pleasurable sensations
• Warm flushing of skin
• Dry mouth
• Heavy feeling in arms and legs
• Nausea
• Vomiting
• intense itching
• Drowsy for several hours
• Heartbeat slows (to point of death)
• Clouded mental function

• Scarred collapsed veins
• Clotting of veins (impurities)
• Heart Infections
• Soft tissue infections (abscesses)
• Liver kidney disease
• Pneumonia
• tuberculosis
• Arthritis
• HIV/ AIDS, Hepatitis B C
• Miscarriage
• Addiction

Heroin Withdrawals

• Usually lasts from 24-48 hours, may persist up to
  a month
• Not usually fatal, but will kill fetus of
  pregnant user
• Restlessness
• Muscle bone pain
• Insomnia
• Diarrhea
• Vomiting
• Cold flashes with goose bumps
• Involuntary spasms (leg)
