  • Being able to introduce people and explain who
    they are makes everyone comfortable in a new
    situation and is one of the most useful skills
    you can acquire in the business world. The
    ability to confidently introduce yourself or
    others demonstrates that you are at ease and in
    control and by extension, that you set others
    at ease too.
  • Traditionally, in social situations a man is
    introduced to a woman. In practical terms, that
    means that the man is introduced last in the
    introductions Stacey Velasquez, may I introduce
    Brad Johnson. Not so in the business world! In
    business, introductions are based on a persons
    rank and position in a company. Whether the
    person is a man or a woman, young or old, makes
    no difference. The highest ranking person is
    mentioned first and then the person being
    introduced. Remember Big, may I introduce

  • If you enter into a group where introductions
    have already been made, introducing yourself is
    always appropriate.
  • Never leave people guessing your name. To save
    someone possible embarrassment of forgetting your
    name, offer a handshake and give your name.

  • Introduce people as follows
  • Executive, Id like to introduce Assistant.
  • Client, Id like to introduce My Company.
  • Governor, may I introduce Citizen.
  • Two-Year Employee, may I introduce New
    Employee.

More on introductions
  • If someone mispronounces your name or gets it
    completely wrong, just smile and say something
    like, Thanks you, but my name is Karen Miller,
    not Morton.
  • If youve been introduced to someone previously,
    allow yourself to be reintroduced if youre not
    recognized. Dont make it an issue.
  • Never walk up to someone and say, Remember me?
    To do so is cruel! Always stop and reintroduce
    yourself politely. If you see someone youve met
    previously but cant remember the mane, simply
    say something along the lines of, I remember
    meeting you recently. Was it at corporate
    headquarters? Usually the other person is
    flattered that you remember having met, even if
    youve forgotten the name.
