What is DUAL CREDIT AT MOORESTOWN HIGH SCHOOL?
Dual Credit refers to the opportunity for high
school students to earn both college and high
school credit while taking advanced placement
high school courses. This program is called the
College Accelerated Program (CAP) at Burlington
County College.
5
  • Why are we offering dual credit?
  • An incentive to take the most challenging courses
  • Possible cost savings
  • Inconsistent college policies on AP
  •

6
  • Who will offer the college credit?
  •
  • Moorestown Township Public Schools has
established a partnership with Burlington County
College that recognizes some of Moorestown High
Schools Advanced Placement (AP) classes as
equivalent to courses offered at the college
level. Students meeting the requirements of
these classes for dual credit may have their
grades placed on the Burlington County College
transcript for the equivalent class at Moorestown
    High School.
  •

7
What courses are recognized by Burlington County
College as college courses?
Note Each equivalent Burlington County College
course costs 100.00. The AP Exam that must be
taken by the student to qualify for Burlington
County College credit costs 83.00. There is
no Advanced Placement Test for Multivariable
Calculus and Diff. Equations. Burlington County
College reserves the right not to offer college
credit for Moorestown courses if a
sufficient numbers of students do not enroll in
the classes for college credit.
8
  • How can I enroll my student in this program?
  • 1. Application forms may be obtained at the
    Moorestown High School Counseling Office.
  • 2. Parents must fill out the top part of the
application and return the application with full
payment in the form of check or money order ( see
chart ) to the attention of Mrs. Marion Mourey,
    Supervisors Secretary, at Moorestown High
School, Room A115.1 by the deadline date.
  • 3. Please make checks payable to Moorestown
Township Public Schools. A portion of the cost
will pay the college for the class and the
remainder will pay for the students AP exam.

9
  • What does my student have to do to obtain dual
    credit for his/her AP class?
  •
  • 1. Each sophomore, junior and senior student who
desires dual credit must be register for and be
enrolled in an AP course that offers dual credit.
  • 2. He/she must pass the AP class with a C- or
    better.
  • 3. The student must also take the AP exam and
score a 3 or better on the AP exam in order for
that grade to be transferred to Burlington County
    College (except for Multivariable Calculus).
  •

10
  • Will all colleges and universities accept those
    transfer credits?
  •
  • Some colleges are more willing to accept
transfer credit than others. In addition, some
colleges may not want to give college credit for
courses taken on a high school campus.
    Nevertheless, hundreds of students have
    successfully transferred Burlington County
Community College credits to four year colleges
    and universities.
  • Examples are
  • Duke University, Columbia University, University
    of Pennsylvania, George Washington University,
    Arcadia University, Bucknell University, Boston
    University, Drexel University, Fairleigh
    Dickinson University, Georgian Court, Montclair
State University, New Jersey Institute of
    Technology, Philadelphia University, Penn State

University, Rutgers University, The College of
New Jersey, Thomas Jefferson University College
