5Submitting Your Application
- Application submitted with 250 fee to ACHE
Division of Membership - Credentials Committee reviews applications
monthly - Committee authorizes or defers application
6Application Criteria -Tenure and Position
- Diplomate status for three years
- Healthcare executive management position or a
healthcare management-related position - Fellow Projects can be initiated immediately
after advancing to Diplomate status
7Application Criteria -Continuing Education
- At least 30 hours of continuing education over
most recent three years - At least 15 hours must be Category I (ACHE
education) credits - Remaining 15 hours may be Category II (non-ACHE
education) credits
8Application Criteria -Participation and
Leadership
- Community, state, regional/national level,
including annual meetings - Healthcare executive group meetings, hospital and
healthcare association meetings, etc. - Community, civic, religious, public service,
e.g., United Way, Lions Club, scouting

- Three references are required - all from ACHE
Fellows - Lists of ACHE Fellows, by area, are available

- Thesis
- Four case reports

11The Thesis Option -Three Types
- Expository Presents a broad-based discussion of
a healthcare issue - Hypothesis Presents a major question for testing
research methods - Historical Essay Traces the evolution of a
concept, trend, or program and documents past,
present, and future developments
12The Thesis Option - Requirements
- Meaningful healthcare management subject
- Valid premise for investigation
- Evidence of data gathering and classification
- Complete data interpretation and evaluation
- Sound conclusions, recommendations, and
implications - Presentation of results according to the
prescribed format
13The Thesis Option -Topic Proposal and Approval
- Topic proposal must include a definitive purpose
of the investigation, detailed description of
data and sources, and detailed procedures and
methods to be used in delineating the subject - Topic proposals must be submitted to the Division
of Membership before beginning
14The Thesis Option -Final Notes
- Length At least 6,000 words (main text)
- Most contain 30 to 50 double-spaced pages of
text - Deadline November 15 to be recognized at the
Convocation Ceremony at Congress the following
year

- Four case reports
- Must first receive topic approval from Division
of Membership - May submit reports separately or together

- Review the approaches considered in resolving the
problem - Analyze the management decisions made and the

- Present objectives for managerial leadership for
your junior executive/postgraduate fellow and
note potential growth - Provide plan for continuing management education
for both parties - Submit with first quarterly report

- Evaluate progress
- Summarize/critique completed projects
- Evaluate programs overall structure, referring
back to the development plan - Explain any changes to address problems
- Evaluate mentorship projects benefits to both
you and your organization

- Summarize entire project and complete a critical
analysis of the program - Describe, evaluate, and analyze final outcomes
and objectives - Describe and analyze the benefits for the junior
executive/postgraduate fellow - Identify overall contributions to your
organization

- Once the Credentials Committee approves your
completed Fellow project, all application
requirements are satisfied - Congratulations! You may begin using your new
FACHE credential.
