  • A comprehensive approach to incident management
  • An Incident Management System
  • This system will provide a consistent approach
    for Federal, State, and Local governments to work
    effectively and efficiently together to prepare
    for, respond to, and recover from domestic
    incidents, regardless of cause, size or
    complexity.

  • If your personnel are involved in any type of

    trained.

  • Awareness (4 hours) -
  • IS 700 (online program)
  • IS 100 (online program)
  • No operational role but merely support others who
    do
  • Operations (8 hours)
  • Maryland Fire and Rescue Institute
  • An actual operational role in the response or
    recovery

  • Supervisor/Command (16 hours)
  • Maryland Fire and Rescue Institute
  • A supervisory or Command role in the situation
    or event
  • Executive Briefing
  • Completed locally for elected officials
  • Approximately 1.5 hours
  • For elected officials for County and municipal
    governments

How do we institutionalize NIMS?
  • Include NIMS in job descriptions
  • Train new personnel in NIMS
  • Provide ongoing training in NIMS
  • Pursue local instructors
  • Include NIMS in Emergency Operations Plans

Timetable
  • Complete Training Survey Return to ACES by Dec.
    9, 2005
  • Formally adopt NIMS by resolution
  • Training may begin immediately in Awareness
  • ACES will compile training surveys and will
    request training from MFRI
  • Training to begin for other levels approximately
    March 1, 2006
  • Institutionalizing NIMS should begin immediately
