- LISC is dedicated to helping nonprofit community
development organizations transform distressed
neighborhoods into healthy and sustainable
communities of choice and opportunity good
places to work, do business and raise children. - LISC mobilizes corporate, government and
philanthropic support to provide local community
development organizations with - loans, grants, and equity investment
- local, statewide, and national policy support
- technical and management assistance capacity
building - best practices.

- Our attention has increasingly turned to the
next phase of neighborhood building - not just
focusing on building healthy places, but also on
creating sustainable communities - places of
choice - where human opportunity and
socio-economic vitality combine with a continuous
process of growth, adaptation, and improvement. - Our goal is to build Sustainable Communities in
LISC communities across the country.
4Our Role
- We underwrite real estate developments, but
also integrate those efforts with other
strategies, all in the context of a given
neighborhoods overall vision. -
- We will also become more engaged in building
integrated relationships among residents,
funders, policy makers and others.

- 2007 LISC Phoenix convenes forum on Creating a
Sustainable Future for our Communities, Changing
our Patterns of Development, Valley Metro
attends Steering Committee formed to create
civic engagement project - 2008 (spring) LISC national convenes workshop
on transportation issues LISC staff get primer
on accessing transportation funding with focus on
neighborhoods encouraged to get involved in
local transportation issues.

Institute/ AARP/Gov. Smart Growth Cabinet to
discuss bringing in national experts to vet TIME
