Medical Countermeasures Mission
  • Advise the DASD (FHPR) and the ASD (HA) on
    medical countermeasures policies and programs to
    further individual health protection for all U.S.
    forces against chemical, biological,
    radiological and nuclear (CBRN) threat agents.

  • Recommend policies for
  • Prevention of mortality and illness/health
    degradation from CBRN threats
  • Immunization of U.S. forces and mission-critical
    employees against biological threats
  • Consequence management and treatment of
    illness/health degradation resulting from
    exposure to CBRN agents

Coordination
  • Coordinate with the Joint Staff and Services in
    the processes that
  • Recommend medical requirements for service
    members
  • Prioritize medical development and acquisition
    programs that provide the capability to operate
    across the CBRN threat
  • Promote advanced CBRN training for medical
    personnel

Additional Mission
  • Advise the DASD(FHPR) and ASD(HA) on significant
    new biological defense strategies and medical
    countermeasures for the DoD, and in support of
    the Department of Health and Human Services and
    DoD International partnerships
