ALLIED PROJECTS
  • British Council funded link between the
    universities of Nottingham, Leicester and
    Palangka Raya to develop postgraduate and short,
    continuing education courses at UNPAR
  • Global Peatland Initiative funding to promote new
    approaches to sustainable development of peatland
    in Central Kalimantan, including Biorights,
    carbon credits and green energy

PROBLEMS
  • Some partners have still not transferred their
    biophysical and socio-economic data to UNINOT for
    inclusion in the interactive database
  • Heightened tension caused by current political
    instability in the Middle East has already led to
    the cancellation of Jack Rieleys planned visit
    to UNPAR at the end of March and could limit
    activities planned to take place in Southeast
    Asia during the second half of 2003
