Duty, Honor, Country
  • Everything we do at Mac is based on these three
    words.

Start/End Times
  • Attendance
  • School starts at 900 a.m. and ends at 400 p.m.
  • If absent please bring a note from parent or
    doctor to the attendance office.
  • Parents must sign students out when picking up
    for a doctors appointment. Parents will have to
    show a valid picture ID in the main office. ONLY
    PEOPLE LISTED ON YOUR BLUE CARD CAN PICK YOU UP
    FROM SCHOOL.

Attendance
  • We want you here at school!
  • Your presence in class is very important. Be
    here and be on time!
  • 90 Rule
  • After 5 Unexcused or Excused (with a parent note)
    absences, students will receive a No-Credit
    unless they attend Saturday School.
  • Sign up for Saturday School in the AP Office by
    noon on the Thursday prior to the Saturday you
    will attend.
  • You will not be eligible for a TEA form (required
    to get your Drivers License) if you have an NC
    for the prior semester.

Blue Gold Slips
  • You must have a blue or gold slip to return to
    class. Report to the attendance office with a
    note after an absence to receive your slip. If
    you do not have a note, you will have to see an
    administrator to get an admit slip.
  • Present your slip to your teacher to sign. The
    last teacher to sign your slip from your absence
    will turn it in to the attendance office.
  • U- Unexcused No note from any source or
    Truancy- Zeros for work, but you are still
    responsible for the material on the test.
  • E- Excused- Note from Parent- Students make up
    the work and receive full credit- notes must be
    submitted within 2 days of return.
  • X- Extenuated Note from Doctor/ Death in the
    Family must be submitted within 2 days of return.

Medication
  • Medication may not be kept in the classroom or
    administered by the teacher.
  • Medication sent in plastic wrap, foil, jars,
    paper towels, or envelopes cannot be given it
    must be in the original prescription container. 
  • Students may not carry medication on the bus, in
    their lunch bags, or on their person.
  • Medication can not be sent back and forth on the
    bus, nor is the student allowed to carry medicine
    to and from school.
  • Parents are to bring medication(s) to the school
    nurse in the school clinic.
  • Parents must provide all needed prescription
    medication the school does not provide any
    medications, i.e., Tylenol.
  • Failure to follow this policy will result in ISS
    II at a minimum and could result in Expulsion
    depending on the circumstances and the nature of
    the medication in question.

For Your Safety
  • All visitors must check in the main office for a
    visitor badge.
  • Your student ID must be on your clip or lanyard.
    The ID must be visible at all times- in your
    pocket is not visible.
  • Violators will receive a 2 hour Saturday
    Community Service.
  • Failure to wear your ID could result in the loss
    of exemption.
  • Lost IDs must be replaced at a cost of 5.

Safety Drills
  • Fire Drill Procedure
  • Exit the building with your class in a
    SINGLE-FILE line.
  • Stay with your class.
  • Fire alarms and fire extinguishers are not to be
    played with. Violation will include school and
    criminal consequences.
  • Lock Downs
  • Follow teacher directions

  • Show respectful behavior to teachers, assistants,
    secretaries, custodians, cafeteria staff,
    substitutes and each other.
  • Respect the building and grounds.

  • Classroom Rules are posted in the classroom
  • Morning arrival/Afternoon dismissal
  • Parent drop off in the front/ Buses by the tennis
    courts.
  • Please observe speed limit of 5 miles per hour.
  • All students driving a car must have a parking
    permit displayed in their window.
  • Morning The cafeteria starts serving breakfast
    at 815 a.m. Breakfast lines close at 850 a.m.
  • Students may wait for school to begin in the
    courtyard, cafeteria, and blacktop.
  • Students who have made arrangements may go to
    tutoring at 800 a.m.
  • After school Students are asked to leave campus
    no later than 430 unless they are involved in
    extracurricular activities.
  • Students waiting to be picked up should sit on
    benches not in the windows in front of the
    building.

Bus Riding
  • BUS riders The bus is an extension of the
    school.
  • You must follow safety rules Riding a bus is a
    privilege and this can be lost due to consistent
    misbehavior.
  • Obey the bus driver and dont argue when you are
    corrected. Talk to your parent or Administrator
    if you feel the driver has been unfair.
  • Stay behind the blue line and pay attention for
    your bus. The buses need to load and leave
    quickly to make room for the next bus.

Lunch
  • MacArthur is a closed campus.
  • No one should be visiting you during lunch.
  • No one should be leaving campus during lunch.
  • Food stays in the cafeteria or patio area.
  • You may only be in the cafeteria, patio or the
    courtyard during lunch, not in the building.
  • Clean up after yourselves.

Tardies
  • Every effort should be made to get to class on
    time.
  • Tardies disrupt the flow of instruction
  • Students should take care of their business
    during the passing periods. Students will not be
    released during the first and last 15 minutes of
    class.
  • You must have a pass if you are in the halls
    during class time.

Dress Code
  • Modest dress no tank tops, strapless, or
    spaghetti straps.
  • Hair color must be a natural color no mo hawks,
    reverse mo hawks etc.
  • Skirts or shorts should be no shorter than mid
    thigh.
  • No Sagging, chains, spiked collars or bracelets.
  • No double meanings or alcohol/drug advertisements
    or sexual references are allowed.
  • Piercing in the lower ear lobes only.
  • No holes in your jeans, shorts or skirts and no
    excessively oversized clothes.
  • No caps or rags on your head before, during or
    after school.

Administrative Discretion
  • Administration has the final call on dress code.
  • If a students dress becomes distracting to
    others they may be asked to change.
  • Dress code violations will be placed in ISS.
  • Students will not be allowed to call home for a
    change of clothes.

Electronic Devices
  • Cell phones should be completely OFF (not on
    silent or vibrate) from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. If
    you are leaving during the day, you may not have
    your phone out until you reach your vehicle.
  • CD players, IPODs, MP3 and any other listening
    devices may not be used during the school day.
  • Students may not bring their laptops from home
    unless they have written permission from the
    administration.

Exemption Policy
  • Semester exam exemptions will allow all high
    school students with good attendance, behavior,
    and academic performance to exempt up to three
    semester exams in any subject for each semester.
    Semester exam exemption guidelines will apply to
    all high school students who meet the following
    criteria

Consequences of Hazing
  • Any student who violates the state law, or the
    North East Student Code of Conduct pertaining to
    hazing shall be subject to disciplinary action
    that may include, but may not be limited to,
    suspension.
  • Other disciplinary action may include alternative
    educational placement and/or expulsion if
    criteria for the expulsion are met (Texas
    Education Code 37.007). The student may also
    face probation and/or removal from
    extracurricular activities.

Hazing Policy
  • Each student participating in extracurricular
    activities is to be tested over the Districts
    hazing policy and their respective organizations
    constitution.
  • Each student should be required to score a
    minimum grade of 90 on the test before he or she
    is allowed to participate in any organizational
    activities, regardless of the time of the school
    year when the student enters the extracurricular
    activity. This pertains to all fine arts
    activities (band, choir, drama, etc.) athletics
    (football, volleyball, tennis, swimming, golf,
    etc.), JROTC (main unit, color guard, drill team,
    etc.), academic and extracurricular clubs and
    organizations (student council, math club,
    National Honor Society, debate team, etc.).
