Annes Parents
Annes father, Otto Frank came from an old
German-Jewish family from Frankfurt, Germany.
In this picture, he is shown (right) wearing
the uniform of an officer in the German army
during World War I.
In 1925, Otto Frank married Edith Hollander, and
they settled in Frankfurt where Otto worked as a
banker.

Margot and Anne Frank
In 1926 Otto and Edith celebrated the birth of
their first child, Margot. Three years later, on
June 12, 1929, Annelies Marie was born. She is
seen here with her mother in the hospital.
The family was very happy together until the
Nazis took control of the German government in
1933. Mr. Frank lost his job and new anti-Jewish
laws were being decreed. Mr. Frank decided to
move his family to Amsterdam, Holland.
