Population Density New York City 10 million
people in 1000 square miles (10,000/ mi2) New
York State 18 million people in 49,000 square
miles (300/ mi2) So, if the whole of New York
state were as densely populated as NYC, then the
state could easily hold 490 million people that
is more than the combined population of Canada,
the USA, Mexico and the entire Caribbean all
those people could live in NY state and the
entire rest of North America and the Caribbean
could be completely empty Jakarta, Indonesia
has 10 million people but is only 70 square
miles. It has 140,000 people per square mile.
Tokyo, Japan has twice the population of New
York in approximately the same area. Mexico City
has nearly quadruple the population of NYC Cairo
has a much larger population, perhaps twice as
large, in a space only about 1/8 the size.
Rwanda in central Africa has 25,000 square
kilometers of land, and well over 10,000,000
people New England has about 250,000 square
kilometers and about 12,000,000 people. Britain
has 244,000 square kilometers and about 60
million people. Bangladesh has 144,000 square
kilometers and 144,000,000 people. Source CIA

Why do women in LDC countries have so many
children?
Providence Journal Wednesday April 14,
1999 Ruling sets Zimbabwean Womens Status back
Decades The nations Supreme Court said that
the nature of African Society dictates that
women are not equal to men. soft-spoke Vennia
Magaya was evicted from her deceased fathers
house, her TV set and oven thrown out into the
yard after her, she thought it wasnt right. So
she sued her half brother for evicting her. She
had a compelling case. The nations constitution,
a separate law enforcing womens rights, and
several international human rights treaties that
Zimbabwe had signed clearly backed her claim to
her fathers estate. But in a stunning reversal
of fortune for Zimbabwean womenthe nations
Supreme Court overruled or challenged every law
related to womens rights and gave the house to
her half-brother. In a landmark 5-0 decision,
the court said the nature of African society
dictates that women are not equal to men,
especially in family relationships. The court
said centuries old African cultural norms, which
are not written down, say a woman should never be
considered an adult but only as a Junior Male
or teenager. Experts say the rulingstrips
Zimbabwean women of almost all the rights they
had gained since the nation broke free of
colonial rule Basically, theres nothing
left of the gains womens rights have made in the
past 20 years, said Welshman Ncube, the
nations premier scholar on constitutional and
family law. Its a full bench decision by the
Supreme Court. There is no appeal. They meant to
settle this question once and for all.
