Most of the people were killed few were saved
from the killing and the harsh camps that the
Jews had to attend to, which they were treated

The treatment of Jews by Nazis placed not only
Jews but everyone at risk. The Jews looked for
help and if Nazi thought you were a Jewish
supporter you could be deported. Helping a Jew
would be punishment by death.   Some of the
Holocaust survivors tell there stories. There
was some unity among the Polish villagers. Many
or most of the people were under constant barrage
of terror and deprivation.   Some of the captured
jumped off the trains which were to transport
people to death or concentration camps. The
guards sat on to of the rooftops and shot, but
everyone took a chance. Two people lived from
one of the jumping off the train. They then
survived under an assumed name . Went to work on
a German farm pretending that they were Catholic
and escaped until the war end.   A baker and his
wife were shot for giving a loaf of bread to a
Jewish women. The forest was a hiding place for
the Jews at times as well as sometimes the
villager would set plates of groats in the forest
for the homeless Jewish children.   There were
several non Jews that risk their lives by hiding
Jews in the walls or basements of their homes.
Some of the blankets and food was smuggled to
the jews though a few people. A one time there
was word of a raid coming and a person drove some
of them to forest to hid.   Some Poles helped
Jews while some betrayed them. Most people were
concerned about their own survival. The peasants
often helped the Jews..   Many survivors ended
up in displacement person camps that were set up
in western Europe under Allied military which
were some of the concentration camps Some of
them waited to be admitted to places like United
States, South Africa or Palestine.   Returning
home was dangerous as anit-Jewish riots broke out
in several cities. In Kiele, a city
southeastern Poland, 150 Jews returned home
people there feared that hundreds more would come
back to recalaim their homes and belongings.
Jews realized future in Poland was poor.
