Definitions of Inner City/ At Risk Youth
  • Inner City In a metropolitan area of 150,000 or
    greater population.
  • At Risk Usually refers to a situation in which
    factors such as economics, gangs, widespread drug
    use, etc., are depriving students of full
    educational opportunities
  • Are more than 30 percent of enrolled students
    participating in subsidized meal programs?
  • Are less than 75 percent of seniors who start
    school graduating?
  • Is the neighborhood considered low overall income
    level?
  • Is there a high incidence of violent crimes?
  • Are housing code violations commonplace?
  • Is additional financial assistance required?
