  • To get water
  • root hairs increase surface area
  • mycorrhizae increase root surface (absorptive)
    area hold water near roots
  • Vascular plants use xylem to transport water to
    stems leaves

  • Waxy coating (cuticle)
  • Guard cells close stomata when water is scare
