On order, deploy and establish a theater
topographic operations site to provide terrain
analysis, cartographic production, and
topographic survey support to Multi National
Force-Iraq (MNF-I), Multi National Corps-Iraq
(MNC-I), Coalition Provisional Authority (CPA)
and all forward deployed forces in support of
Full-spectrum Joint or Combined operations.

C-2 Terrain Section

• Role Provide the MNF-I and MNC-I commanders and
  staffs geospatial products to increase
  situational awareness, better understand the area
  of operation, and predict the location of events
  that may impact operations or planning.
• Key Tasks Hard copy special mapping product
  creation and duplication, area analysis, route
  analysis, change detection, soft copy products,
  and geographic research.
• Organization The C-2 Terrain Team is an element
  of 555th Engineer Company and consists of one 5
  soldier terrain team. An additional 5 soldier
  team has been added by the 555th Engineer
  Company/420th Engineer Brigade to allow synergy
  and 24 hour operational capability.
• Capabilities Two DTSS-D systems with three
  DTSS-L laptops and two 1055CM Plotters outfit the
  two teams. ESRI Software and ERDAS Imagine 8.6
  provide the software that allows the creation of
  several new special products and up to 200 copies
  of existing products per day.
• Key Issues The product demand of the CJTF-7
  staff requires twice the stated JMD staffing
  requirements. A reliable supply of ink and paper
  has not been established.
• Requirements Personnel 8ea 21U10s, 2ea
  21U20s, 1ea 21U40, and 1ea 215D. Supply 30
  roles of 36 paper, 4 ink cartridges and print
  heads per month (4 colors), 8 print head cleaners
  per month. Equipment 2ea DTSS-Ds, 3ea Laptops,
  2ea 1055 Plotters, 4ea office laptops, DVNT, DSN.
• Products Over 220 special products have been
  completed in the first 4 months of operation
  (average of 5 new products per day). The
  products fall into three basic categories
  Situational Awareness, Area Analysis, and
  Predictive Analysis.
