Process

Process
  • Our interest in Inquiry Learning was a result of
taking part in a research project with Digital
    Learning Objects in 2007.
  • Inquiry Learning with Jane Hossack from Island
    Bay School.
  • Cooperative Learning with RTLBs and Houghton
Valley School. Used as a tool for Inquiry
    Learning.

4
What is the point?
  • SWELL is our primary professional development
    focus.
  • To minimise unwelcome extra work we decided that
Inquiry Learning could be used to weave our
entire years learning in topic together. This
would encompass Camp, Science Fair and Take
    Action for Water.
  • We created a big idea, for our first topic
camp, with the hope that it will apply to our
    subsequent topics.

5
Big Idea
  • We spent two staff meetings with Jane Hossack
creating our big idea and beginning our planning.
This process was slow and involved a lot of
    wailing and knashing of teeth.
  • We started with the idea What are the essentials
    for life?
  • This evolved into Personal responsilibity for
ourselves, others and our environment enables us
to operate successfully within our world.
  • Each of the four classes involved chose different
    provocations.
