Description of function

• Provides for the conservation of endangered
  plants and animals in the habitats they are found
  in.
• Federal agencies must consult with the Fish and
  Wildlife Service on any actions that might harm
  endangered species.
• Also prohibits the trade of endangered species.

Who enforces it?

• The U.S Fish and Wildlife Service
• They maintain a list of endangered plants and
  animals
• 1574 endangered and 351 threatened species
  currently.
