International Education Committee Summary
  • Established in 1994 the mission of the Standing
    Committee on International Education is to
    facilitate cooperation and foster international
    education efforts at each of Wisconsins 16
    technical colleges.
  • Early efforts by the committee included a federal
    grant for curriculum development projects, the
    establishment of Summer Institute professional
    development conferences, and international
    professional development travel seminars.
  • Development of a Curriculum Analysis (DACUM)
    identifying key global competencies for technical
    college occupational programs.

International Skill Sets as Identified by WI
Employers
  • Panel experts represented employers in child
    care, education, human services, information
    technology, labor unions, manufacturing, WI Dept
    of Workforce Development, and Technical College
    educators were surveyed to identify key global
    competencies shared in all workforce training
    programs.
  • Those surveyed identified the following six
    categories

International Business Education
  • Todays symposium is part of a targeted
    effort by the International Committee to foster
    increased cooperation among WTCS districts to
    infuse more international content into our
    business curricula and foster dialog among
    faculty and administrators working on
    international business education.
