  • ramp up off campus after on-campus
  • Applying to closed round
  • Go for all the companies you are interested in
  • Beware some companies specify they will only
consider international students for the open list
  • If you are interested in a company that says US
only, use the contact person to see if they may
    interview you
  • Never lie or hide your international status if it
    is an issue
  • Bidding for the open round
  • Research companies you are interested in and
    could hire you
  • Do not spread yourself too thin
  • Use your personal prioritization to bid big on
    the ones that really matter

    format

Managing the lag time till response
  • In the interview remember to ask how the process
    continues (timeline)
  • You may send a thank you e-mail to your
    interviewer
  • Follow up letters / calls
  • Are acceptable after the time frame they
    established
  • Shows your continued interest and commitment

10
  • Managing offers and rejections
  • Risks of reneging an offer
  • If you commit to a CMC offer, you cannot reject
it (you would be barred from CMC resources)
  • Reneging an offer in your home country
  • Dont burn bridges if you are planning on coming
back to your home country after graduation
  • MBA community may be small in the industry youre
    targeting
  • Importance of maintaining Kelloggs reputation
  • Advice Summer vs. long-term considerations
  • Right perspective, right priorities job will be
    more important than internship
  • Example
  • Goal switching from engineering to marketing
wanted marketing internship in the US
  • Found marketing internship in home country, while
found a banking internship in the US
  • Delayed choice until spring finals finally
found a marketing internship in the US
  • Rejections
  • No matter how good you are, you will be rejected
from jobs (even if interviewer was smiling)
  • To save time and avoid pain, make sure company
    recruits internationals
