Office of Insured Health Care Facilities
  • Section 242 of the National Housing Act enables
    the affordable financing of assisted living
    facilities, hospitals and nursing homes. This
    program supports HUD's community development
    mission and contributes revenues to the General
    Insurance Fund.
  • OIHCF administers the Section 242 program, which
    provide mortgage insurance for assisted living
    facilities,nursing homes and hospitals. Pursuant
    to Section 242, OIHCF also administers Section
    241 supplemental loans and Section 223(a)7
    refinancing for hospitals. OIHCF is charged with
    determining need and financial feasibility of
    hospital projects, while also monitoring the
    financial performance of hospital in HUD's
    portfolio.

with resources to address a wide range of unique
community development needs.

Community Development Programs(CDBG)
  • CDBG funds may be used for activities which
    include, but are not limited to
  • acquisition of real property
  • relocation and demolition
  • rehabilitation of residential and non-residential
    structures
  • construction of public facilities and
    improvements, such as water and sewer facilities,
    streets, neighborhood centers, and the conversion
    of school buildings for eligible purposes
  • public services, within certain limits
  • activities relating to energy conservation and
    renewable energy resources and
  • provision of assistance to profit-motivated
    businesses to carry out economic development and
    job creation/retention activities.
