Appearance and Habitat

• 28 inches tall
• 9 to 14 lbs.
• Black and white
• Has a thin black line under its chin
• These penguins can be found on South Atlantic and
  Antarctica peninsula
• They live with the Adelie penguins

Chicks and Eggs

• Lay 1 or 2 eggs
• Their chicks have gray down feathers
• After the 2 eggs are laid the male returns to sea
  
• They build a pebbled nest to protect their eggs
• The female sits on the egg first for a month and
  does not eat
• The male and female take turn incubating their
  eggs
• The eggs hatch in about five weeks

Interesting facts

• They are the boldest penguin and therefore the
  more likely to fight than other penguins
• Chinstrap are aggressive penguins
• It mostly eats krill
• Their enemies are sheathbills and skuas on land
  and leopard seals at sea.
