students interested in and/or pursuing a college
career in the field of teacher education.
  • The electronic system should be in place by
August of 2005 in order to comply with the
policies and governances set forth by the
National Council for Accreditation of Teacher
Education (NCATE). The project will be developed
over a period of three to four years.

14
NCATE Project Review
  • The NCATE Project Review started in November
    2002.
  • Information Technology Services (ITS) and EAP
developed an entire system to electronically
track students in licensure programs (and some
    non-licensure programs)

15
New Tracking System
  • A way to track students from the time students
show an interest in Miami through one year after
    graduation.
  • Final stages of completing prototype.

16
New Benchmarking System
  • The Schools of EAP and FA require a comprehensive
system to allow for the tracking of the students
who are applying to or who have been accepted
into one of Miami Universitys licensure or
    non-licensure programs.

17
New Benchmarking System
  • Each individual program is required to
incorporate all of the NCATE standards into four
different benchmarks and the program coordinator
will have the freedom to identify their criteria
    for each benchmark.

18
New 4 Benchmark Program
  • Benchmark I Admittance into the program.
  • Benchmark II Early Field Experience
  • Benchmark III Methods Block
  • Benchmark IV - Graduation
