5 Leading Treatments for Autistic Children

Autism is a mysterious disorder with no known
cause or cure, but there are different types of
therapies that are potentially useful in treating
autism. Once you start to investigate various
treatments that can help autism, you will begin
to find that there are literally dozens of them
out there. With such a wide range of options
available, it can be confusing trying to find
which treatments are the best. Every child is
different, and what works for one child may not
work as well for another child, but this article
will provide a list of some of the best known and
best researched treatments that produce positive
results.

Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA)Applied
Behavioral Analysis was specifically developed
for treating autism and is the most fully
researched treatment thats around today. The
treatment focuses on teaching certain behavior
through reward-based training. This is the most
commonly supported type of therapy offered by
schools.

Speech TherapyMany people that suffer from
autism also have problems with speech. In certain
cases, this issue is obvious, and some people
that suffer from autism may not speak at all or
use speech very poorly. Sometimes, it is not the
speech itself that is challenging but the
practical application of speech as a tool to
develop social relationships. However, speech
therapy is almost certain to help all individuals
with autism.
5
Social Skills TherapyOne of the most common
symptoms of autism is a lack of social and
communication skills, and children with autism
often need help with tasks such as bonding with
new friends and holding a conversation amongst
peers. Social skills therapists help children
with autism to develop a wide range of social
skills based on peer-based social interaction.
