  • Activated B cells produce cytokines (e.g. TNF-a,
    interleukin IL-6, lymphotoxin) which are known

  • Lymphotoxin promotes the formation of new

    to perpetuate autoimmune reactions

    C1q (a protein of the complement system)
  • This triggers the activation of the complement
    system
  • Ultimately, this leads to B cell lysis via
    formation of pores in the membrane
