5Pride in our History
- Our main building opened in September 1971 as
Gulf Junior High School. - In 1977 Gulf High School and Gulf Middle School
switched buildings. - The "300 Building" opened in September 1987. It
was originally called the Math/Science wing, or
the annex. -
6Pride in our History
- The stadium, "Des" Little Field, is named
for William Desmond "Des" Little, who was a
supporter of Gulf athletics. Little Road is also
named for him. -
- The Bever-Hicks Activity Center was named
in 1992. It was named for Joe Bever, a coach and
math teacher for 20 years, and Robert K. Hicks,
who taught English, Latin and humanities for 21
years.
7Pride in our History
- The baseball field was named for Rudy Snyder
in 1979. He was a long-time supporter of Gulf
athletics and was president of the Booster
Club. He was the Gulf High valedictorian in 1931.
- His son is Les Snyder, who is now a science
teacher here he was the salutatorian in 1965.
