Three outcome areas

• Promotion of integrated approaches for
  alleviating child hunger and under-nutrition

  nutrition of children into relevant policies

Promotion of integrated approaches

• Networking and partnerships
• Capacity-building of national institutions (all
  levels)
• local food sec., nutrition and livelihoods
  strategies and integrated support to vulnerable
  HHs and communities
• Document country level experience and feed back
  into policies and programmes
• Diversification fortification school-based
  approaches
• Change behaviour, on child feeding and care
  (incl. PLWHA)
• Therapeutic feeding programmes with appropriate
  livelihood support and community nutrition
  programmes,
• Supplementation programmes with key
  micronutrients where dietary means are
  insufficient
• Establish sustainable institutional mechanisms at
  local and national level to ensure

  activities and programmes

Advocacy and mainstreaming into relevant policies

• Joint advocacy campaigns (e.g.rising food prices)

  national policies, guidelines and legislation and

Assessment, monitoring and evaluation

• Strengthen existing information systems (in part.
  health and agriculture) for targeting and impact
  assessment
• Incorporation of nutrition and food consumption
  indicators in nut. and food sec. information
  systems.
• dis-aggregation of data on nutrition
  interventions, food consumption and anthropometry
  according to livelihoods group and gender
• Articulate health and agriculture-based
  information systems
• Predict, monitor and evaluate the impact of
  development policies and programmes on food
  consumption and child nutrition
• Ensure coherence and consistency of local,
  national and regional strategies and relevant
  global initiatives (e.g. FIVIMS, SMART, REACH,
  MICS, DHS)
