Work hard and get lucky - Get a job in Gulf
The legendary South African golfer Gary Player
gave this wonderful phrase to us - Work Hardand
Get Lucky. Many a times we look at successful
people and say He is lucky. Yes, thatstrue
but beneath the glamour and fame, every
successful person has a story of hard
workunderneath him or her. We tend to think
some random favorable event has happened
tosomeone and term it as luck which brought
him success. But the fact is, only those
whoworked hard, ever became successful.
Sometimes you could see someone landing in a
dream job and you could hear Ahhh I just
applied for few positions and they called me for
an interview and I got through. Well,
humannature likes to project good things and
appear it as an easy job. But if you dig deeper
into thebehind the scenes, you would be able to
find the hard work put before landing in a dream
job.You want to land in your dream job, then do
the following
Lets see the example of two Level B employees
competing for a Level A position. Employee
1,does the normal job every day, writes and
replies to emails, talks to the usual group
ofcolleagues, handles the same clients, feels
his education is well enough for backing
hispromotion, is busy with his own work. On the
other hand, Employee 2, on top of his normalwork
schedule, puts effort in attending a training
session, lends a helping hand for sales
pitchesand meeting new clients, conducts a
workshop to train new hires, talks to new people
in thecompany undertake a new language course.
Employee 2 stands a better chance by far to
getpromoted than Employee 1 because no employer
wants someone who does the normal work.Every
employer wants their employees to do more and
achieve more.
