    beautiful.
  • the canvas was not a picture, but an event.

6
When and Where
  • The art form itself started in Germany around
1910-1920 but it really bloomed after the war.
  • Abstract Expressionism became popular or well
noticed around 1940s in New York.
  • Right after World War 2 and with the insurgence
of Sigmund Freud and Carl Jungs ideas on
    psychoanalysis.

7
Why did this happen?
  • The ideas were sparked by feelings after the war
    by both sides.
  • Also, the psychoanalytical ideas of Sigmund Freud
and Carl Jung were part of the base of the
    paintings.
