HyTASP Program Committee
  • HyTASP - A very active International committee of
    those whose interests focus on Hypersonic
    Technologies Aerospace Planes. - Members from
    every organization with major hypersonic
    activities. (Approximately 75 members)
  • Founding chair was Dick Culpepper who was
    followed by Walt OBrien Dave Reubush became
    chair in October, 2002
  • Provides an interface to bridge between TCs
  • Sponsors the AIAA International Space Planes and
    Hypersonic Systems and Technologies Conference
    approx. every 18 months
  • Brings an awareness of hypersonic issues to
    stakeholders (Aerospace America November, 2002
    editorial, CVD White Paper 2004)
  • With an increasing emphasis on hypersonics in DOD
    as well as in foreign countries an attempted
    abandonment by NASA the committee sees an
    increasing need for its coordination advocacy
    activities

HyTASP - Meetings Conferences
  • Meets 2 or 3 times per year

  • International Space Planes and Hypersonic Systems
    and Technologies (HyTASP Sponsors)
  • Last Conference 12/15-18/03 in Norfolk, VA to
    coincide with 100th Anniversary of Powered
    Flight. Conference adjourned and participants
    were bused to reenactment in Kitty Hawk.
    Conference was very well attended.
  • Next Conference scheduled for May 16-20, 2005 in
    Capua, Italy
  • Overwhelming number of papers submitted
  • Had to resort to poster sessions to accommodate
    all the good submissions
  • Following Conference tentatively scheduled for
    Fall 2006 in Australia

HyTASP - Advocacy
  • Concern by committee members that hypersonic
    technologies have insufficient funding to insure
    availability by the time the nation will need
    them
  • Subcommittee developed white paper which was
    presented during past Congressional Visits Day
  • White paper contributed to success of 25M
    earmark in FY05 NASA budget
  • Continuing advocacy required to maintain support
