Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering field
of study prepares students for manufacturing
management and decision support positions in
industry and public sector, by equipping them
with a broad range of decision making skills for
a variety of applications. The IME curriculum
reflects the objective of imparting fundamental
knowledge to develop the ability to address
complex industrial issues, emphasizing on how to
design, run, control and optimize the

Mechatronics
Mechatronics field of study prepares students to
gain expertise not only as the system integrators
but also as the builders of the components of
advanced technologies. Mechatronics provides
students a new insight in the field of automation
through an integrated consideration of mechanics,
electronics, and information technology. The
preferred fields of undergraduate study for the
candidates seeking admission to Mechatronics are
Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical
Engineering, Computer Engineering or Computer
Science.

The curriculum focuses on design and IC
packaging aspects for specific applications.
Fabrication, including prototyping of chips, is
included in the curriculum and is featured in
partnership with microelectronics industries and
collaborating universities overseas. The

the market need of embedded systems.

  • Creation of an intelligent tutoring system for
    medical problem-based learning
  • Disaster mitigation stemming from socio-economic
    and environmental impact assessment in tsunami
    affected areas
  • Development of an intelligent underwater robot
  • Turning crustacean waste products into such
    products as shampoo, see-through bandages, food
    preservatives and an anti-microbial coating for
    fabrics
