CONSULTANT SELECTION
  • Procurement of architectural and engineering
    consultant services is governed by the Official
    Code of Georgia Annotated (O.C.G.A.) Title 50,
    Section 22, entitled Managerial Control over
    Acquisition of Professional Services.
  • An architectural or engineering firm may not
    account for more than 10 of the total executed
    contractual amount by GDOT in a three-year
    period.
  • In emergencies, the requirements of O.C.G.A.
    50-22 may be waived to allow procurement of
    professional services by the most expeditious
    means.

  • 1990 - Less than 5 of project workload.
  • 1999 - Approximately 33 of the project
    workload.
  • Resulted from increase in funding and decrease
    of staff.
  • Consultant services used in 17 GDOT offices.
  • 450 Million dollars in consultant contracts
    over last 3 years.
  • 2010 - Projected to be 65 of project workload.
