Add to self-control
Patience

  • II Peter 15-11 So make every effort to apply
the benefits of these promises to your life. Then
your faith will produce a life of moral
excellence. A life of moral excellence leads to
knowing God better. 6 Knowing God leads to
    self-control. Self-control leads to patient
endurance, and patient endurance leads to
godliness. 7 Godliness leads to love for other
Christians, and finally you will grow to have
genuine love for everyone. 8 The more you grow
like this, the more you will become productive
and useful in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus
Christ. 9 But those who fail to develop these
virtues are blind or, at least, very
shortsighted. They have already forgotten that
God has cleansed them from their old life of sin.
10 So, dear brothers and sisters, work hard to
prove that you really are among those God has
called and chosen. Doing this, you will never
stumble or fall away. 11 And God will open wide
the gates of heaven for you to enter into the
eternal Kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus
    Christ. (New Living Testament)

Patience

  • Hupomone in Greek remaining under pressure that
God ordains. Not surren-dering to the
    circumstances that are pressuring you.
  • Jesus called us to carry a yoke
  • Matthew 1129 Take my yoke upon you, and learn
of me for I am meek and lowly in heart and ye
shall find rest unto your souls. 30 For my yoke
is easy, and my burden is light.
  • Luke 923 And He said to them all, If any man
will come after me, let him deny himself, and
take up his cross daily, and follow me.
  • All this demands patience.

  • Patience Toward God
  • Psalm 377 Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently
for Him Do not fret because of him who prospers
in his way, Because of the man who brings wicked
    schemes to pass.
  • Psalms 731-28 Truly God is good to Israel, To
such as are pure in heart. 2 But as for me, my
feet had almost stumbled My steps had nearly
slipped. 3 For I was envious of the boastful,
When I saw the prosperity of the wicked. 4 For
there are no pangs in their death, But their
strength is firm. 5 They are not in trouble as
other men, Nor are they plagued like other men. 6
    Therefore pride

like a garment. 7 Their eyes bulge with
abundance They have more than heart could wish.
8 They scoff and speak wickedly concerning
oppression They speak loftily. 9 They set their
mouth against the heavens, And their tongue walks
through the earth. 10 Therefore his people return
here, And waters of a full cup are drained by
them. 11 And they say, How does God know? And is
there knowledge in the Most High? 12 Behold,
these are the ungodly, Who are always at ease
They increase in riches. 13 Surely I have
cleansed my heart in vain, And washed my hands in
innocence. 14 For all day long I have been
plagued, And chastened every morning. 15 If I had
    said, I will speak thus,

  • Behold, I would have been untrue to the
generation of Your children. 16 When I thought
how to understand this, It was too painful for me
    - 17 Until I went into the sanctuary of God Then
I understood their end. 18 Surely You set them in
slippery places You cast them down to
destruction. 19 Oh, how they are brought to
desolation, as in a moment! They are utterly
consumed with terrors. 20 As a dream when one
awakes, So, Lord, when You awake, You shall
despise their image. 21 Thus my heart was
grieved, And I was vexed in my mind. 22 I was so
foolish and ignorant I was like a beast before
You. 23 Nevertheless I am continually with You
You hold me by my right hand. 24 You will guide
    me with Your

Whom have I in heaven but You? And there is none
upon earth that I desire besides You. 26 My flesh
and my heart fail But God is the strength of my
heart and my portion forever. 27 For indeed,
those who are far from You shall perish You have
destroy-ed all those who desert You for harlotry.
28 But it is good for me to draw near to God I
have put my trust in the Lord GOD, That I may
    declare all Your works.
  • PATIENCE TOWARDS GODS WORD
  • Luke 815 But the ones that fell on the good
ground are those who, having heard the word with
a noble and good heart, keep it and bear fruit
    with patience.

  • Hebrews 1036 For you have need of endurance, so
that after you have done the will of God, you may
    receive the promise

  • PATIENCE TOWARDS GOD DURING PAIN
  • Romans 53 And not only that, but we also glory
    in tribulations, knowing that tribulation
    produces perseverance
  • James 13-4 For when your faith is tested, your
endurance has a chance to grow. 4 So let it grow,
for when your endurance is fully developed, you
will be strong in character and ready for
    anything. (NLT)
  • I Peter 219-21 For this is commendable, if
because of conscience toward God one endures
grief, suffering wrongfully. 20 For what credit
is it if, when you are beaten for your faults,
you take it patiently? But when you do good and
suffer, if you take it patiently, this is
commend-able before God. 21 For to this you were
called, because Christ also suffered for us,
leaving us an example, that you should follow His
    steps

  • PATEINCE TOWARDS OTHERS
  • Romans 154-5 For whatever things were written
before were written for our learning, that we
through the patience and comfort of the
Scriptures might have hope. 5 Now may the God of
patience and comfort grant you to be like-minded
toward one another, accord-ing to Christ Jesus.
  • Genesis 2615-22 Now the Philistines had stopped
up all the wells which his fathers servants had
dug in the days of Abraham his father, and they
had filled them with earth. 16 And Abimelech said
to Isaac, Go away from us, for you are much
mightier than we. 17 Then Isaac departed from
there and pitched his tent in the Valley of
Gerar, and dwelt there. 18 And Isaac dug again the

Abraham his father, for the Philistines had
stopped them up after the death of Abraham. He
called them by the names which his father had
called them. 19 Also Isaacs servants dug in the
valley, and found a well of running water there.
20 But the herdsmen of Gerar quarreled with
Isaacs herdsmen, saying, The water is ours. So
he called the name of the well Esek, because they
quarreled with him. 21 Then they dug another
well, and they quarreled over that one also. So
he called its name Sitnah. 22 And he moved from
there and dug another well, and they did not
quarrel over it. So he called its name Rehoboth,
because he said, For now the LORD has made room
for us, and we shall be fruitful in the land.

  • Gods Patience Toward Us
  • I Timothy 115-17 How true the saying is, and
worthy of the fullest acceptance, that Christ
Jesus came into the world to save sinners! And
there is no greater sinner than I! 16 Yet mercy
was shown me for the express purpose that Christ
Jesus might exhibit in my case, beyond all
others, His exhaustless patience, as an example
for those who were afterwards to believe on him
and attain Immortal Life. 17 To the Immortal
King, ever-living, invisible, the one God, be
ascribed honour and glory for ever and ever.
    Amen. (TCNT)

  • Acts 269-12 Indeed, I myself thought I must do
many things contrary to the name of Jesus of
Nazareth. 10 This I also did in Jerusalem, and
many of the saints I shut up in prison, having
received authority from the chief priests and
when they were put to death, I cast my vote
against them. 11 And I punished them often in
every synagogue and compelled them to blaspheme
and being exceed-ingly enraged against them, I
persecuted them even to foreign cities. 12 While
thus occupied, as I journeyed to Damascus with
authority and commission from the chief priests

  • Acts 910-16 Now there was a certain disciple at
Damascus named Ananias and to him the Lord said
in a vision, Ananias. And he said, Here I am,
Lord. 11 So the Lord said to him, Arise and go
to the street called Straight, and inquire at the
house of Judas for one called Saul of Tarsus, for
behold, he is praying. 12 And in a vision he has
seen a man named Ananias coming in and putting
his hand on him, so that he might receive his

heard from many about this man, how much harm he
has done to Your saints in Jerusalem. 14 And here
he has authority from the chief priests to bind
all who call on Your name.
  • 15 But the Lord said to him, Go, for he is a
chosen vessel of Mine to bear My name before
Gentiles, kings, and the children of Israel. 16
For I will show him how many things he must
    suffer for My names sake.

Arise and be baptized, and wash away your sins,
calling on the name of the Lord. (Acts 2216)
