What we expect (1)
  • Admission requirements a mean GCSE score of 45
    or above, including at least grade C in English
    and maths
  • Commitment to success through lessons private
    study (up to 4 hours per subject per week)
    taking responsibility for progress (turning from
    a pupil into a student)
  • Support for the schools standards and ethos
    maintaining a high standard of appearance and
    behaviour

What we expect (2)
  • Our post-16 courses are full-time students are
    expected to attend school regularly and
    punctually
  • Some home study concessions may be given
    (increasing use of the Virtual Learning
    Environment)
  • Part-time jobs should be limited (max 10 hours
    per week) and must never be done during school
    hours

The curriculum timetable
  • 43 available teaching periods per week
  • Each AS/A2 subject is allocated 8 periods
  • Each enrichment course is allocated 2 periods
  • Games / community service is allocated 2 periods
  • In year 12, this leaves 7 periods for private
    study in year 13, most students have 15 periods
    of private study

Opportunities for leadership service
  • All year 12 students act as buddies to year 7,
    helping them to settle into the school
  • Selected students may train as learning mentors
    and work with younger pupils at Langleywood
    School
  • Selected students may train as drugs education
    peer mentors or anti-bullying peer mentors
  • Other community service placements may be
    available at primary schools
  • Students are elected to the Year 12 Council and
    the School Council
  • Prefects are elected in the second term of year
    12 to serve for the next year

  • Students will participate in sixth form taster

    half-term
  • Submit application form with preliminary subject
    choices by Friday 16 March
  • Provisional subject blocks published before study
    leave begins in May
  • Amend subject choice if necessary
  • Receive GCSE results in August submit final
    application form as soon as possible
  • Begin sixth form studies early in September
